A “high risk” senior named Alan Francescutti was last seen 10 days ago leaving his home in the Lower Mission.

The RCMP and search and rescue teams have been searching for the missing man since April 22, when the police initially issued a plea to the public for information on Francescutti’s potential whereabouts.

On April 23, the 79-year-old’s 2021 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup was discovered in the forest near Postill Road, near the Beaver Lake and Deer Lake Road area. Francescutti, however, was nowhere to be found.

The vehicle was discovered by members of the Okanagan Forest Task Force and an off-roading group called O.T.B.

The Central Okanagan Search and Rescue Organization (COSAR) is continuing to search with scent detection dogs and alongside the RCMP. A helicopter is also being used to search the area.

If there is no luck finding him, more than 40 search and rescue volunteers have been called in to help look for Francescutti on Saturday.

Family members are concerned for his well-being as the length of time he has been out of touch is “extremely concerning.”

Anyone with information is urged to contact Kelowna RCMP at 250-762-3300 or the nearest police detachment and reference file number 2024-19989.
